Island Spa is devoted to creating a welcoming environment for anybody looking to relax and experience our traditional bathhouse.
We strongly encourage all guests to review our bathhouse policies:
What are the rules of a Korean Bathhouse?
Can I wear my bathing suit in the bathhouse?
All guests have the right to access the locker room, bathhouse, and restrooms in a manner consistent with their gender identity and gender expression. During the check-in process, we will provide and assign a bracelet/uniform that corresponds to the gender listed on your ID. If you identify with a gender that is not represented on your identification, please let us know at check-in so that we may direct you to the desired areas. Guests will not be permitted to alternate between our gendered locker rooms and bathhouse within the same stay.
The New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (LAD) 03.06.17 prohibits discrimination based on gender identity or expression in many areas, including public accommodation, and access to sex-segregated facilities. We are committed to providing a safe space and respectful environment for all guests.
There are staff members in all rooms of the facility available to give assistance and ensure that guests are treating one another with respect. If any guest appears to be harassing or endangering any other guest, our staff is trained to intervene and ensure that any situation is addressed with a focus on safety and comfort for all members. For further information about our commitment to safety, please view our policy article here: What are the community rules related to safety, inclusion and respect?
Please keep in mind that our nude bathing area which has no bathing suits allowed is an optional section of our facility. Island Spa has gender neutral restrooms on site, located in the Front Desk area. For all other restrooms, you are free to use in accordance to how you identify.
